Established in 2002 by NBA Point Guard, Brevin Knight and his wife Deena, The Assist by Knight Foundation aims to inspire the youth of today to strive for a brighter tomorrow through the development of scholarships; educational, athletic, and artistic programs; and through collaborative and financial partnerships with charities and community organizations that focus on life-enriching activities for disadvantaged children.

PROJECT BLOOM is the personal project of Deena Knight. She believes if we plant a seed of hope with kind words; we water it by supplying basic needs; and we fertilize it by arranging extraordinary experiences we can help children to blossom into that which they were created to be.

In 2005, after a tour of the Salvation Army's Center of Hope in Charlotte, NC, Deena developed a passion for serving the needs of homeless children. Through her interactions with the children at the center she encourages them to look forward to the future and to reject hopelessness. She encourages the children to set goals and she always provides them with journals and inspirational books to learn how to express themselves in a productive way. She is committed to introducing them to beauty and color so as to inspire bright and vivid dreams.

Deena and Brevin Knight have three young children, Brenna , Kayla , and Donevin. Their NBA lifestyle has blessed them to be able to expose their children to many of the finer things of life. However, they also believe in sharing their blessings with others and the lessons of giving with their children.
