Project Bloom is dedicated to all girls and the women who love them. What does it mean to bloom?

The dictionary defines it this way:

Bloom, (v): 1.To open into flower, 2. To produce abundant plant life, especially unexpectedly, 3. To reach the fullest stage of development of maturity, 4. To appear healthy and vigorous.

Many girls today are not reaching their maximum potential and they are not expected to. Instead of being groomed and encouraged to develop properly, they are being stunted by society's negativity and their own low self-esteem. Rather than living life abundantly, they are mired in hardship and difficulty. They are unable to appear healthy and vigorous, because they are tired and confused. So, while the girls are growing up (in many cases, too fast), they are not Blooming.

Project Bloom was established in 2005 to create programs designed to help cultivate all girls into the amazing creations they are intended to be. At Project Bloom, we tell girls:

DON'T JUST GROW [UP] BLOOM!

TAKE THE BLOOM PLEDGE:

Stand tall and say with confidence:

I  am a girl who wants to Bloom

I am a girl who promises to commit to my education

I am a girl who promises to speak respectfully to others

I am a girl who promises to resolve conflicts without violence

I am a girl who promises to be honest and true to myself

I am a girl who promises to accept others for who they are

I am a girl who promises to dedicate my life to being the best version of me I can be

I am a girl who REFUSES to just grow (up)

I AM A GIRL WHO PROMISES TO BLOOM!
